Wake

Wake
By Lisa McMann

"For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people's dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie's seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime.
She can't tell anybody about what she does they'd never believe her, or worse, they'd think she's a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn't want and can’t control.
Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else's twisted psyche. She is a participant." Courtesy of Goodreads

This book was intriguing. How does a child process being able to go into some else's dreams? How can you hold onto the secrets that you get to live in their dreams? I think this girl handles things a lot better than most people ever would. The relationship between Janie and Cabel is crazy. I never expected the twist that happened. I was so heartbroken with Janie up until then. I just think would definitely be difficult to have this ability knowing that she goes blind to see these dreams. She is at a lot of risk. I'm so ready to read the next one.

The only complaint I have is with the set up. It reads like a story but is set up like a journal, so I felt like I was talking in the third person the entire time. It was a bit uncomfortable.
