Been Away...

So yes I know it's been a while since I have posted on here. Between work, sleep, book hangovers, and vacation, I find it's harder for me to be motivated sometimes. It doesn't mean I have read a ton of great books and have the reviews all ready for posting (and some that aren't written yet). This is going to take a while...

Vampirates: Blood Captain

Vampirates: Blood Captain
By Justin Somper

"For Connor, these are testing times aboard notorious pirate ship, The Diablo - not least when Captain Wrathe's obnoxious nephew Moonshine joins the crew. And, as things reach breaking point, Connor finds himself crossing a line from which there is no return. Meanwhile Grace and Lorcan journey to Sanctuary, a mountain retreat presided over by vampirate guru, Mosh Zu Kamal. If anyone can heal Lorcan's blindness, it's Mosh Zu, but he's more interested in Grace. Combatting danger on all sides, Grace realises her fate is inextricably bound up with the vampirates..." Courtesy of Goodreads

I'll be damned if Sidorio and Jez aren't back. Surely, considering how long these Vampirates have been around, someone has had to end one at some point?! Guess not!!
Poor Lorcan, Poor Vampirates Captain! They both need so much help. Grace meets so many new people who actually help her unlock many of her talents. Connor is so moody it gives me whiplash. I just wish that so many people didn't feel the same way as Sidorio.
Mosh Zu is very much how you would expect a guru to be. I just wish he was a bit more real world and connected than he is.

Vampirates: Tide of Terror

Vampirates: Tide of Terror
By Justin Somper

"Sequel to Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean. Traitor Sidorio, unable to control thirst, builds a crew and takes a ship. Former crewmate Grace 14 wants to help blinded Lorcan who rescued her, and keep her twin Connor safe at the elite Pirate Academy. Will they stay together or follow their own journey?" Can I just say how much I dislike the pirate captains? They are so selfish and using despite the pretty words that come out of their mouths. Cheng Li is definitely well on her way to being the same way. I just can't stand her at all.
Connor needs to wake up. He is involved in piracy so things are going to happen, and people will use him no matter where he goes. I hate that he had to lose someone and visit the academy of liars to see all of this. I hate that Connor seems so lost despite how close he keeps coming to feeling okay again. At least you helped put an end to Sidorio!
Grace, honestly! You need to get a grip girl! Of course your drawn back to the Vampirates and Lorcan!! Especially, once you find out he isn't doing alright. Going to such extremes to get back is crazy girl! Cheng Li should be straight up slapped! However, I am glad she gets back to the Captain and to Lorcan, no matter what that crazed donor says!!!

Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean

Vampirates: Demons of the Ocean
By Justin Somper

"Twins, Connor and Grace, never dreamed that there was any truth to the Vampirate shanty their father sang to them before he died, but that was before the two were shipwrecked and separated from each other. For Connor, who is taken aboard a pirate ship, there's the chance to learn to swordfight, but for Grace, aboard a mysterious ship of vampire pirates, the danger is great. What will it take for them to find each other?" Courtesy of Goodreads

I first came across this book when pirates and vampires were becoming all the rage in my world. What better than pick up a book about both?
Poor Connor and Grace Tempest! We start out the book with them losing everything from their father to their home. They set on a very dangerous journey which automatically turns for the worse. Luckily, they are rescued, but they are separated. Connor finds himself swept up in the wonderful life of being a pirate. At this point, I adore Connor and the rag-tag group of pirates. I love that they try to make him feel better despite everything that has happened!
Grace is found in a much different situation. She is swept into the life of the Vampirates. In a way, Grace is in much more danger than Connor. I love Lorcan. He has been trying so hard to protect Grace, but she finds her way into trouble. The Captain and Darcy are great. The ship seems full of good people with one big exception. Sidorio the arrogant ass. I was so torn when Connor and Grace became reunited. I wanted them to be safe together, but I didn't want her to leave Lorcan!

Until I DIe

Until I Die
By Amy Plum

"Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

In Die for Me, Amy Plum created a captivating paranormal mythology with immortal revenants and a lush Paris setting. Until I Die is poised to thrill readers with more heart-pounding suspense, spellbinding romance, and a cliff-hanger ending that will leave them desperate for the third and final novel in the series." Oh.....My..... God...... Where do I start with this book?!

I just love this series. These two poor kids. They love each other so much, but things are never easy are they? Through the book, they are both trying to find a way to ease his suffering while he is trying to resist his instincts. His way turns out to be dangerous, but then again so is hers. I just love these two together. They are so in love with one another. They would do anything to fix it. He is so romantic.
Poor Jules. It's clear how he feels about Kate, but she chooses to ignore it. I love him to pieces too. I miss Charlotte and Charles in this book, but I know this is what everyone needs. So many shocking things happen in this book!
Arthur and Violet can go suck an egg. Arthur i might be able to grow to like, but Violet can take a long walk off a short pier and never wake up for all I care! I am so desperate to find out what happens. I need the last one!!!

Midnight Frost

Midnight Frost
By Jennifer Estep

"Here we go again …

Just when it seems life at Mythos Academy can’t get any more dangerous, the Reapers of Chaos manage to prove me wrong. It was just a typical night at the Library of Antiquities — until a Reaper tried to poison me. The good news is I’m still alive and kicking. The bad news is the Reaper poisoned someone else instead.

As Nike’s Champion, everyone expects me to lead the charge against the Reapers, even though I’m still hurting over what happened with Spartan warrior Logan Quinn. I’ve got to get my hands on the antidote fast — otherwise, an innocent person will die. But the only known cure is hidden in some creepy ruins — and the Reapers are sure to be waiting for me there …" Courtesy of Goodreads

I enjoyed this book. You find out so much about the people important in Gwen's life. I think the whole going off in to a trap thing is crazy. They know they are but they seem a bit unprepared for it. Gwen meets someone you never expect in a million years and find out this crazy big secret about her past. Thank god Logan FINALLY shows up but is still acting like a wounded deer. Come on boy! Sign her mattress already!!!! At least it ends pretty well. I'm ready to read the last one!

Texas Gothic

Texas Gothic
By Rosemary Clement-Moore

"Amy Goodnight knows that the world isn't as simple as it seems—she grew up surrounded by household spells and benevolent ghosts. But she also understands that "normal" doesn't mix with magic, and she's worked hard to build a wall between the two worlds. Not only to protect any hope of ever having a normal life.

Ranch-sitting for her aunt in Texas should be exactly that. Good old ordinary, uneventful hard work. Only, Amy and her sister, Phin, aren't alone. There's someone in the house with them—and it's not the living, breathing, amazingly hot cowboy from the ranch next door.

It's a ghost, and it's more powerful than the Goodnights and all their protective spells combined. It wants something from Amy, and none of her carefully built defenses can hold it back.

This is the summer when the wall between Amy's worlds is going to come crashing down." Courtesy of Goodreads

I adored this book. I loved the characters, especially Amy. I mean what girl hasn't accidentally ran around outside in their drawers? This girl just got lucky and the hot neighbor was there to see it. At least she tried to play it off like it was a bikini. After all of this has already happened, she winds up getting caught up in a big ghost scandal turned real scandal and is compelled (by magic duh) to help figure everything out and fix it. I love the chemistry between Amy and Ben, the neighbor boy. They argue and bicker. So, of course, the attraction is undeniable.
The ending left me wanting! What happened? GAH!
